Last fall we planted over a hundred tulip bulbs in a stock tank hoping that after a long winter, they’d give us the boost that we need to get us moving on those early spring projects.
It is a leap of faith; planting bulbs, or any seed, seedling, bare root plant etc. You’re putting all of your faith in that little ball of trapped energy that you’ve tucked under the cover of dirt, hoping you’ve given it all the right nutrients and just the right amount of water and sunlight so that it will give you what you are expecting; a flower, a vegetable, a tree, a fruit.

Much like the many seedlings I start every year, you never know what is going to survive and what isn’t. You hope that every seed you plant will be successful, but there are no guarantees. Kinda like the leap of faith you take when you fly to Las Vegas and marry your best friend.

After being together almost 15 years we decided it was time and planned an elopement in under two months that was absolutely perfect–we flew to Las Vegas on a Sunday, got married at the Little White Chapel (the Elvis one) who I can not recommend enough, they were phenomenal, the officiant was so good and had me crying from the minute he started. He had music queued to the whole ceremony that was absolutely perfect, and even took some photos for us at the end. Five Stars.
“I think you’re beautiful
Jens lekman
but it’s impossible
to make you understand
that if you don’t take my hand
I’ll lose my mind completely
madness will finally defeat me.”
we had dinner at Best Friend after the ceremony, which was perfect, then walked around Vegas for a while, stopping at the Bellagio for the fountain show and popping inside to see the Tea and Tulips display which was breathtaking (the photos don’t do it justice) The scent of all of the flowers in bloom was spectacular. It was like stepping into spring.

The day after the wedding we went to Area 15 to experience Omega Mart an art installation set up like a grocery store that I cannot possibly explain here, all I can say is if you ever have the chance to experience it, don’t think twice, just do it. It was amazing.

We still had time to kill before our late night red-eye (never again!) flight so we drove through Red Rock Canyon State Park which was beautiful and the silence we needed (so quiet) especially after Omega Mart.

Coming home to a week of catching up on sleep and returning to routines, planting the rest of the seeds for the garden, and opening the farm stand. Happy that we know we can go away for a few days and all of the animals survived. Happy that we came home to signs of Spring in our own yard. Happy to be starting this new chapter in our life.
